Description: We have created an underwater drone that use affordable items such as 3D printing objects and plastic glasses that is called ‘HYDROSCOUT’. We use a simple control mode (Dual Shock controller) to handle the movements of the drone. By using Arduino Uno rogramming , acrylic body tubes, The usage of the Logitech camera helps in surveying landscape and collecting data of the in the lakes because this camera is connected to the laptop screen. This ‘HYDROSCOUT’ can help people in exploring the aquatic lives.
Over the past two years several professors from the technology education and mechanical engineering programs at Brigham Young University have collaborated with local public k-12 teachers to develop and implement a ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) activity to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The activity has focused on students learning about STEM concepts.Their findings are ROVs are high cost to be employed for STEM Education. It,s complexity in design allows for professional usage only. Most ROVs are runs propriety system which does not allow for internal modifications. We decided to design instead of ROV, we build a drone name Hydroscout which comes in non-modular base needing full replacement in case of damage.Our engineering design will increase students interest in aquamarine technologies cause it is affordable and simple to learn.It develops modular base design to achieve higher efficiency which can be scaled up for future improvements.It will expand the aquamarine industry by providing affordable underwater drones with lower maintenance cost. Using acrylic cylinder tubes as the body , Water-tight fitting 5mm air tight hose , 6mm acrylic fins, threaded steel rods to hold the body together, DC Brushed Motors , Propellers three blade, Li-Po battery 11.1V 1 A and 3D printing nozzles and drone’s tail . Our research include the durability, depth, speed , water leakage and buoyancy test . This product will increase society interest in aquamarines not only the youngster but more to awareness of technology and application to the environment.
