Its old town, encircled by Planty Park and remnants of the city’s medieval walls, is centered around the grand Market Square, home to the Cloth Hall, a Renaissance-era trading outpost, and St. Mary's Basilica, a 14th-century Gothic church.
Krakow is also known for Wawel Castle, a hilltop royal residence and cathedral, showcasing a blend of architectural styles from the Gothic to the Renaissance.
