Aluminium based multifunctional housing for circular electronic devices

Description: The project focuses on optimizing the design of electronic products for energy and material efficiency throughout their lifecycle, particularly emphasizing recyclability. It adapts existing MID technologies for creating electronic circuits and antennas in an aluminum-based housing for ICT equipment, aligning with the European Commission’s Green Deal. Aluminum is chosen for its environmental sustainability over plastic and dual functionality as both housing and heat disperser, eliminating the need for active cooling systems. This approach supports the circular economy by promoting the use of recycled materials and designing products for easier recycling, benefiting the entire supply chain from aluminum industry to electronic waste recycling. The ultimate goal is to create a sustainable, multifunctional aluminum housing that preserves valuable materials like gold and palladium in electronic components.
