Modeling of different degrees of renal ischemia using inraoperative visualization methods

Description: During renal surgeries, renal vasoconstriction is widely used, causing renal ischemia in the kidneys, which leads to other pathologies in both the excretory and other systems of the body. To combat renal ischemia by inventing the best way to squeeze the renal vessels, we undertook this work.

One of the prerequisites for the success renal surgery is the temporary cessation of blood perfusion of the organ. Such manipulation creates the conditions for activation of ischemic and reperfusion mechanisms of damage to the preserved tissue, which can lead to structural and/or functional disorders of nephrons. As part of this work, we identified and analysed the differences between different methods of renal vascular clamping, using in practice, fairly new methods of renal circulatory research, such as ICG technologies. As a result of our series of experiments on 35 mongrel rats, we gave heat ischaemia of the right kidney to; we have detected and analysed the difference in renal circulation changes resulting from squeezing the various renal vessels. Our study proved that the choice of a particular technique of renal vasoconstriction also determines the condition of the kidney after reperfusion, which proved that it was possible to develop the best possible method of renal vasoconstriction during renal surgery. We have also planned and prepared the groundwork for further research on the development of this method, which will help people to maintain the functions of their kidneys.
